    TearLab

At the Beverly Hills Medical Center of Kuwait, our ophthalmologists treat patients suffering from a variety of eye conditions. One of the most common disorders we see is dry eye syndrome, a condition that affects the tear production of the eyes. Though it’s not dangerous, dry eye syndrome can be irritating and uncomfortable. However, thanks to new state-of-the-art technologies, testing for dry eye syndrome is easier and more accurate than ever before. Beverly Hills Medical Center of Kuwait is proud to be the first medical center in Kuwait with access to TearLab, a testing method that accurately and quickly determines a patient’s level of tears.

If you suffer from dry eyes and would like to schedule a consultation with one of our expert ophthalmologists, please contact us today at +(965)-222-89999.

    How TearLab Works

TearLab is a revolutionary new testing method for dry eyes. Using the TearLab machine, doctors can accurately measure the amount of tears a patient produces and take the necessary steps in treating the condition. The test collects a small amount of tear film on a patient’s upper and lower eyelids, providing our specialists with a quantitative assessment of tear film health.

    What to Expect From TearLab

Patients who choose to undergo TearLab testing should expect a fast and extremely accurate tear reading. Testing each eye can be performed in as little as 30 seconds, and results are given after a few minutes.

During testing, our opthalmologists will use a special device to measure the amount of tears on a patient’s eyelid. By gently touching this device to the tear film on the upper and lower eyelids, our specialists can gain an accurate and easy understanding of a patient’s dry eye syndrome. If a patient’s tear film is too thin to accurately read, our ophthalmologists will gently move the device across the eyelid, ensuring an comprehensive reading.

After testing each eye, the TearLab device will give a reading, which our ophthalmologists can use to determine the severity and extent of dry eye syndrome. After the procedure has been performed, our ophthalmologists will talk patients through any questions they may have, as well as propose treatment methods to help deal with dry eye syndrome.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q: Does TearLab testing hurt?

A: Not at all! TearLab is a non-invasive method to determine whether or not a patient suffers from dry eye syndrome. During the testing, our specialists will simply touch a device to the corner of a patient’s eyelid. The eyeball itself is not affected; only the eyelids are exposed to the testing device.

Q: Can I drive home after being tested using TearLab?

A: Yes! Often, doctors recommend that patients who have any procedure performed on the eye be accompanied home by another adult. Typically, this is done because of lingering anesthesia effects or because the pupil has been dilated. However, since TearLab testing does not involve anesthesia or dilation of any kind, patients are absolutely able to drive themselves home after the procedure.

Q: Where else can I be tested using TearLab?

A: Beverly Hills Medical Center of Kuwait is proud to announce that we possess the first TearLab machine in the entire country. If you are suffering from dry eyes, we are the best-equipped facility for dealing with your condition.

    Q: How accurate is TearLab?

A: TearLab testing is an extremely accurate way to measure tear fluid in patients. In fact, the machine is so accurate it can test a tear sample smaller than the period at the end of this sentence.
