Liposculpture
Liposculpture is, essentially, a less invasive form of liposuction. The main difference between the two is the instrument used. The instrument used for liposculpture, which is called a cannula, is much thinner. The shape of the instrument allows our dermatologists to artistically sculpt the body into a new shape, using delicate instruments rather than simply sucking the fat, which would have been the case with the larger cannula and the old way of doing liposuction.
The newer, less invasive liposculpture is easier on the body, improves overall results, and involves less scarring and incisions. Liposculpture does not, moreover, leave the ridges and waviness that is associated with the use of larger cannulas.
What Areas Can Be Treated With Liposculpture?
Liposculpture can be used to treat a variety of problem areas on the body. However, it is most commonly used to treat the areas that are resistant to diet and exercise. Liposculpture can, moreover, effectively remove fat and contour the following areas of the body:
- Love handles
- Hips
- Thighs
- Buttocks
- Abdomen
- Back (mid and lower)
- Calves
- Ankles
- Breasts
- Knees
- Arms
- Neck and jowls
Tumescent Liposculpture
At the Beverly Hills Medical Center of Kuwait, we use tumescent liposculpture, which is the most advanced technique of permanently removing excess fat deposit under the skin in areas that are resistant to diet and exercise. For the procedure, our established surgeons fill and swell the fatty areas that need to be removed with large volumes of a special solution before the surgery. Fatty deposits are then removed using small, straw-like tubes (the small cannula) connected to a suction apparatus or syringe.
Tumescent liposuction recovery time is relatively minimal. Within less than a week, most patients are able to move around normally and return to work, experiencing only mild discomfort. Within two weeks, patients are able to remove compression garments.
While the recovery process differs from patient to patient, most patients can return to their normal activities within two weeks. However, it takes a few months for the full results of the procedure to be seen.
Am I a Good Candidate for Liposculpture?
If you are in good overall health and have fatty areas of the body that are resistant to diet and exercise, you are a good candidate for liposculpture. However, note that the ultimate decision as to whether or not you are a good candidate will depend on your consultation with our physicians and your expectations for the procedure. It is important to remember that liposculpture is not to be used as a form of weight loss, but as a procedure to treat areas of the body that have been resistant to diet and exercise.
