Dermal Fillers
As we age, the underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful begin to break down, often leaving laugh lines, smile lines, crow’s feet or facial creases over the areas where muscle movement occurs. Cosmetic dermal fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, can help our dermatologists and plastic surgeons fill in these lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these wrinkle fillers plum up creased and sunken areas of the face, and adds fullness to the lips and cheeks. Dermal fillers can also help fill out deep facial wrinkles, creases and furrows, sunken cheeks, skin depressions, and some types of scars.
Restylane & Perlane
Restylane and Perlane are injectable fillers composed of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance synthesized to be safe, non-allergenic, and completely degradable. The fillers can rejuvenate your appearance by eliminating signs of wear and aging, such as wrinkles, furrows, frown lines, scarring, pitting, loss of fullness, and other surface damage to the skin.
These injectable treatments replenishes your skin naturally, filling in depressions and augmenting soft tissue features to give you a fresh, glowing, and youthful look. During the actual treatment, our expert physicians will numb the designated area with a local anesthetic. Once that is done, we will make a series of shallow injections to the area, smoothing and filling out your specific problem areas.
Because many different factors determine the longevity of your results, note that it lasts months for some, and years for others. However, in general, both Restylane and Perlane can last as much as twice as long as similar collagen treatments.
Juvederm
As the skin ages and is exposed to environmental pollutants and sun, the cells lose the ability to produce hyaluronic acid. As a result, the skin begins to lose volume, often resulting in the formation of facial wrinkles.
Juvederm dermal fillers, which were approved by the FDA in June of 2006, contain the highest concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid of any dermal filler currently available. The triple combination of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid provides structure, elasticity, and volume to the skin, while also contributing to its overall appearance. These attributes provide optimal results with a single treatment of Juvederm in the majority of patients, and deliver sustained results for up to six months or longer. In addition, Juvederm dermal fillers are the only hyaluronic acid dermal fillers developed using a technologically advanced manufacturing process that results in a smooth gel that flows easily into the skin. This uniquely manufactured gel creates a smooth, natural look and feel.
Radiesse
This is a unique and long-lasing injectable filler used to augment soft tissues. Although it is an injectable product, some argue that its durability and versatility almost makes it a suitable substitute for facial implants in occasional cases. The filler, which is made of calcium hydroxyapatite, is great for filling and augmenting lips, minimizing or eliminating deep furrows and creases, restoring the appearance of hollowed cheeks, and improving contours of the chin.
The man-made dermal filler provides a natural framework for growth of your own soft tissues, creating natural volume and contour just where you want it. Injected beneath the skin during a simple office procedure, you can achieve optimal results in as little as a single, brief office visit; achieving results that will last for months.
Sculptra
If long days in the sun and years of facial muscle movement have broken down your skin, FDA-approved Sculptra might be a great option for you if you want to restore that youthful look. Sculptra, an injectable poly-l-lactic acid, is a non-surgical, cosmetic treatment to reduce facial lines and wrinkles. For the procedure, Sculptra is injected into the skin in areas where fat has been lost. It causes the skin to thicken via collagen neo-synthesis, improves appearance of folds and sunken areas, and hides the fat loss. It also reduces facial lines and wrinkles, creating a fuller and more youthful appearance to your face.
Collagen
Collagen is a natural fibrous protein that is naturally found in your own bones, skin, and cartilage. Unfortunately, as we age, collagen levels in the skin begin to decrease, leading to loss of elasticity and fullness, particularly in the face. That is why injectable collagen treatments are so popular. Once injected, it will replenish your natural collages stores, fill in depressions, and augment soft tissue features.
Collagen injections are a wonderful, non-invasive way to improve your facial appearance, leaving you with a fresh, glowing, and youthful look. If you have wrinkles, scarring, depressions in the skin, or lacking fullness in your lips, collagen injections is a great option for you.
Fat Grafting
Multi-Level Fat Grafting (FAMI), or facial fat grafting, is a new non-invasive restorative approach to aesthetic surgery which facilitates correction of facial volume deficiency to provide a more youthful appearance. Fat grafting, which is an outpatient procedure, removes and refines fat tissues from the lower part of the body, with liposuction. This refined fat is then injected into the 30 main facial muscles with the use of ten specific cannulae. The popular procedure restores the facial volume loss that is associated with aging, and significantly improves the skeletonization of the face. This, in turn, creates a more youthful facial appearance.
While some patients have to go in for two or three repeat procedures, almost 90% of patients get permanent grafting during the very first try. That is, needless to say, an excellent number. Because the results last for about five years, the procedure is also extremely cost-effective.
Advanced Injection Techniques
Our renowned physicians use a blunt-tip cannula to inject the filler. This is a new, advanced injection technique that improves the procedure, as well as the results. Because the cannula has a blunt tip with a hollow bore and is flexible, it gives our physicians greater precision when placing the fillers. This, in turn, means that we can treat a larger surface are with just one injection site.
The flexible cannula also offers great results for delicate areas, like around the eyes, because it does not cause as much trauma to the tissue as a needle. Less trauma means less pain during the procedure, which in turn means less swelling after the procedure. Because of these factors, the recovery time and social downtime is almost eliminated.
Dermal Filler Results
Please be advised that fillers for the face do not create permanent results. In some, the result may last only a few weeks. In others, the result may be maintained indefinitely. The injected material is eventually metabolized by the body, which means you should not expect the same long-lasting results that may be gained from cosmetic surgery. Age, genetic background, skin quality, and lifestyle all play a role in the filler’s staying power.
Pre-Treatment Guidelines
There are several medications you need to discontinue at least seven days before the day of treatment to avoid bruising, such as Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, Ginger, Ginkgo Biloba, and Ginseng. Moreover, If you have a history of cold sores, ask us about pre-care instructions so we can prescribe you with an anti-viral medication.
