    PRK vs LASIK Kuwait

At the Beverly Hills Medical Center of Kuwait, our expert ophthalmologists specialize in both PRK and LASIK, two similar laser vision correction procedures. Both procedures are effective in improving a patient’s vision, but they each achieve their results in a slightly different manner. To learn more about the similarities and differences between PRK and LASIK, please contact us today by calling +(965)-222-89999!

    PRK vs LASIK Kuwait

PRK and LASIK are both safe and effective outpatient procedures (which means that patients are able to return home the same day as their procedure). Both procedures work by reshaping a patient’s cornea, the clear front part of the eye. By reshaping the cornea, light is able to be properly focused onto the retina. In addition, PRK and LASIK can both be used to treat the same eye conditions, namely myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.

Though the results may be the same, the way in which PRK and LASIK procedures are performed differ from one another in small yet important ways. During a PRK surgery, the thin, outermost layer of the cornea is brushed away, which allows for the excimer laser to access the underlying cornea, reshaping it in the process. During LASIK, on the other hand, instead of removing the top layer of the cornea, a corneal flap is instead created. Acting like a hinge, this flap is pulled back, revealing the corneal tissue underneath.

Recovery times differ depending on which procedure was performed. In most instances, LASIK patients recover within 1-2 days after surgery, while PRK patients take a few days longer. This is because it takes longer for the epithelial tissue (the tissue that is removed during PRK) to grow back. Regardless of which procedure a patient chooses, he or she will enjoy vision that is clear and perfect!

To learn more about PRK and LASIK, or to schedule a consultation for either procedure, please contact the Beverly Hills Medical Center of Kuwait today at +(965)-222-89999.
