Femto-LASIK Questions to Ask
Blade-free LASIK provides the patient with the highest level of safety and the highest levels of results.
It is always important to consult with your ophthalmologist before undergoing any procedure. At Beverly Hills Medical Center Kuwait, we provide only those treatments offering the best results possible for our patients’ vision.
Have I had a consistent and stable prescription for about a year?
It is important that you have had a stable prescription for at least one year before getting Femto-LASIK (bladeless).
Are my current lifestyle choices, including work, family life and sports/recreation, compatible with Femto-LASIK?
Femto-LASIK is not a good choice for any military members or professional athletes. After your Femto-LASIK you will not be able to exercise or swim for a couple days.
What Femto-LASIK results should I expect?
Your vision will be in the 20/20 to 20/40 range one to three days after surgery. Your vision may fluctuate as your eyes heal, but should stabilize over subsequent weeks and heal completely in about 6 months.
About how long does it take for eyes to recover and adjust after Femto-LASIK?
Your eyes may take up to six months to heal fully, however you may return to work a couple days after having Femto-LASIK. You should use the medications prescribed by your doctor, and use artificial tears to help keep your eyes moist to promote healing.
Do I have other general health or eye conditions that might rule out Femto-LASIK?
Glaucoma, herpes, and other diseases are factors that might disqualify you as a candidate for any type of corrective eye surgery. If you are pregnant or nursing, you should wait until you are completely finished with nursing, as hormonal changes can affect your vision. Talk to your ophthalmologist at BHMC Kuwait about options for you.
Is this a good age and life-stage for me to have Femto-LASIK?
Hormonal changes, pregnancy, presbyopia, and cataracts can cause changes in your vision, as can age. It is important that you are over the age of 18 before considering Femto-LASIK (bladeless) surgery.
How should I take care of my eyes after LASIK?
After your Femto-LASIK (bladeless) surgery, Dr. Zein or one of the other ophthalmologists at Beverly Hills Medical Center Kuwait will give you careful instructions for your after-care. If there is any confusion, please contact the office.
