Prof. Kenneth Wright, MD (Ophthalmology)
Dr. Kenneth Wright is an internationally respected ophthalmologist and educator, highly regarded for his caring approach and devotion to the welfare of children and the health of their eyes.
Dr. Wright received his medical degree from Boston University and completed preeminent fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Johns-Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, and Children’s Hospital, Washington, DC. After the fellowship, Dr. Wright joined the full-time faculty at USC School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, serving for 10 years before accepting the position of Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where he developed a renowned program in pediatric ophthalmology. After his tenure at the Cleveland Clinic, he returned to Los Angeles and set up his private practice. Dr. Wright is a staff member at the department of Ophthalmology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Southern California – Keck School of Medicine.
Dr. Wright has been included in “The Best Doctors in America” and “Who’s Who in Medicine and Health Care”. He has authored over 100 scientific papers and eight textbooks on ophthalmology and eye surgery, including the 1,000-page world-renowned textbook, “Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus”. Dr. Wright also authors the American Academy of Pediatrics text “Pediatric Ophthalmology for Primary Care”, which is one of the AAP’s bestselling books, and has become the gold-standard on pediatric eye care for pediatricians nationwide. The American Academy of Pediatrics also sells Dr. Wright’s pediatric eye chart that uses the Wright Figures to test vision in pre-literate children.
