    Keratopigmentation for Changing Eye Color

Around the world, many people are unsatisfied with the color of their eyes. Some have turned to colored contact lenses, but up until recently, there has been no way for patients to change their eye color. Thanks to the research of BHMC Kuwait’s expert ophthalmologists, this dream has now become a reality for patients worldwide.

Keratopigmentation is the world’s first method for safely and effectively changing a patient’s eye color for cosmetic reasons. During the outpatient procedure, doctors perform central corneal intralamellar tattooing with mineral micronized pigments. These pigments alter a patient’s eye color, providing them with the beautiful eyes they’ve always wanted.

    After Keratopigmentation Procedure

Patients who undergo a keratopigmentation procedure should have someone to drive them home after the surgery has been completed. Patients may experience drowsiness after the procedure, and will be restricted from driving for approximately 24 hours.

Recovery from a keratopigmentation procedure is quick and the results are long-lasting. Most corneas demonstrate no signs of reverting back to the initial eye color, which means that patients can enjoy their new eyes for the rest of their lives.

    Keratopigmentation FAQ

Q: Does a keratopigmentation procedure hurt?

A: During the procedure, patients are placed under anesthesia, greatly reducing any pain or discomfort they may experience. After the surgery has been performed, patients may be sensitive to light for a few days. Once a few days have passed, patients will be able to enjoy their new eye color without any side effects or complications.

Q: What happens if I don’t like my results?

A: One year after keratopigmentation, 95% of patients report being satisfied with their results. In many cases, the newly pigmented eyes not only improved a patient’s appearance, but also increased their self-image and confidence. Patients who are not satisfied with their new eye color can elect to undergo a second keratopigmentation procedure.
